Shawn Mendes kicked off his massive world tour earlier this month, which spans more than 95 arena and stadium dates, including his first ever stadium show at Rogers Centre in his hometown of Toronto on September 6. The extensive tour includes special guest opener and Grammy winner Alessia Cara, who is joining Mendes for European, U.S. and South American dates.
Prior to the kickoff, Mendes shared how he planned to break barriers between himself and fans while performing.
"Onstage, there's this massive wall, and if you can't break down the wall, nobody's gonna feel that connection," he said. "So the second you get onstage, you have to smash this wall and it becomes this breathing thing, it's a live thing that happens. It's special."
While the pop sensation continues to break barriers on his latest tour, we thought we might share some special tour highlights before you head out to this exciting trek!
The Setlist:
Mendes' setlist has remained fairly consistent since the tour began and is chock-full of hits! The set is comprised of 20 songs varying from his three studio albums, including "Lost in Japan," "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back," "Stitches," "Treat You Better" and many more.
The Covers:
Mendes has consistently done one cover per show, Coldpaly's "Fix You."
The Encore:
The pop sensation incorporates his cover of Coldplay's "Fix You" and his meg-hit "In My Blood" into the much asked for encore each night.
The Stage Production:
As you may have gathered from social media, Mendes' tour is full of colorful tricks. Utilizing his ample stage space, the singer's show uses bright lights, a changing background and even a giant flower to help amplify the tour experience. He also uses his musical charm and natural stage presence to hook the audience in, but you already knew this!
Special Guests:
Prior to the tour, Mendes and Miley Cyrus partnered for an epic rendition of Mendes' hit "In My Blood." While no said collaborations have happened yet on his tour, we have a feeling some Miley magic might happen before the tour ends!
