THE 1975: LIVE IN LOS ANGELES THE FORUM

Written by LNTV Staff / Photography by Debi Del Grande, Live Nation / October 24, 2016

The 1975 brought their eclectic show to The Forum the other night, for what lead singer Matty Healy said was their biggest US show ever. The stage production reflected their very pink album theme--a lot more colorful than their first tour, which adhered to a very simple black and white theme. The band kicked off their set with their two 1970's inspired singles "Love Me" and "UGH" off their No. 1 album I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It. The set also consisted of fan favorites off their debut album The 1975 like "Robbers", "Sex" and "Girls."

While Healy's showmanship was easily the most stand out element of the night, he was also able to get a bit of politics in. He brought up both Brexit and Donald Trump as examples of the older generation not being sympathetic to the younger generation, and encouraged young Americans to vote to prevent their own situation from worsening. He pleaded heavily with the crowd saying "...you have to vote! This is the world calling! Vote!” For the remainder of the evening, Healy kept the Rock 'N' Roll vibe strong. They rounded out the 25-song set with "The Sound" as fans left, still dancing, and perpetuating the party by blasting their albums throughout the parking lot.
