FRANK OCEAN RETURNS TO LIVE AFTER 3 YEARS

Written by LNTV Staff / December 08, 2016

Frank Ocean has just announced his first live performances in 3 years, backing the August release of his second studio album Blonde. The R&B mastermind behind Channel Orange and the visual album Endless will be gracing the stages to give us a taste of what we’ve all been craving for years now.

Ocean will be performing at two different European festivals during the summer of 2017; he is set to take the stage in Denmark at Northside Festival (June 9), along with other powerhouses like Radiohead and Bastille, and is currently the only announced headliner for the Lovebox Festival(July 14) in London.

It was also announced today that Frank Ocean will be making appearances in the U.S. for Hangout Music Festival (May 19-21) in Gulf Shores, Alabama, and for Sasquatch! (May 26-28) in George, Washington. Hopefully this is just the beginning of a string of performances behind Blonde, but we’re just happy to know he’ll be around for his American fans.

A perfectionist in the truest sense, Ocean has a history of being selective about his ventures and his work. As we’ve seen with the delayed release of his albums and projects, he’s also not one to rush his art. In an interview with Pitchfork two weeks ago he explained, “I wanted to feel like I won before the record came out, and I did, and so it took a lot of pressure off of me about how the record even would perform after the fact.”

Luckily the R&B luminary holds his artistic standards to a high degree; it’s no surprise that the album was met with open arms by fans and critics worldwide. Blonde had the third-largest debut on the Billboard 200 of 2016 and topped the charts at No. 1. A bit more conceptual and experimental than Channel Orange, listeners get a deeper look into Ocean’s past and his inner struggles, making it a captivating and emotional work of art.

Though we’re glad he will be back on the stages in a matter of months, our fingers are crossed for a Blonde tour.
