He excelled and toured around the world, sharing the stage with icons such as Britney Spears , Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry, Kesha, Kylie Minogue, Chayanne, Little Mix, and Mary J Blige.

We caught up with the Dominican singer to chat about his passion for music before he ‘performs’ in Asia and Middle East.

Hi, Willie! Thanks for taking the interview. Can you tell us more about yourself? E.g. where are you from, music background, where do you live?

Hello guys and thank you so much for having me! I’m Willie Gomez, I was born in the Dominican Republic, grew up in Miami FL. and home is in Los Angeles CA. I’ve always had a special connection with pop music since I started dancing and taking vocal lessons at the age of 15. I focused on being a dancer when my professional career started and I got to share the stage with some names that I’ve admired since a very young age. I danced for Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Luis Fonsi, and I recently did the Super Bowl with JLo to name a few things.

About 4 years ago, I decided that I wanted to get back into music as that’s always been another one of my big passions, and here I am now currently recording my very first album. I can’t wait for you all to hear it! Some of my music/performers inspirations are Luis Fonsi, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, David Bisbal, Janet Jackson to name some.

What have you been up to these days? How does your day in social distancing normally look like? How many hours of training do you get?

I’ve been spending a lot of time with my family in Miami during this quarantine. Trying to stay safe of course and at the same time staying inspired doing “Zoom” writing sessions with a group of writers for my project. Sometimes these writing sessions can go from 2 – 8 hours it depends.

I’ve also been doing some home workouts 4 times a week or so as we gotta stay healthy. It’s been super awesome to be able to perform with my “Virtual World Tour” to so many people and countries around the globe during these times.

We know you have been the lead dancer for Britney Spears for the past 10 years. How did you get started in the dance industry? How was it like working with the queen of pop?

Yes I worked with Britney for a long time! It was a dream come true as she was one of the artists that inspired me to become a dancer/performer for sure. I used to stand in front of my TV when I was like 14 and learn all the dances from her music videos alongside Janet & Michael Jacksons.

At the age of 15 my mom allowed me to join an arts school after she saw how much time I was spending in front of the tv dancing. That’s when I started training in dance, acting, and singing.

It was awesome working with her, she’s a sweetheart. I definitely have some of my best memories as a dancer working with Britney.

Who/ what inspired you to start a career in music?

I reached a point as a dancer that I felt I had dancer for everyone that I wanted to work with and I wanted to keep growing as an artist. One day that flame got bigger and I said I want to go back into music, so I did. I’m really enjoying the process and learning so much along the way.

How would you describe your music to someone who's never seen you play before?

My music has that feel good type of Latin Pop vibe that makes you wanna move. Good melodies, good lyrics to connect with, and that good sound. I come from a dancer background so it needs to feel right and make you wanna get up.

We love the two singles you have released - Mojados and Tu Lógica. Can you tell us more about the concepts behind these tracks?

Thank you, I’m so glad you love them.

Tu Lógica is a ballad and the concept behind it was those type of relationships with double standards that I feel a lot of us have experienced. I really wanted to write something like that for a while and when I finally did then Tu Lógica came out. I love this song and it shows a different side of me which I like for a good balance on my project.

Mojados is my big single that keep growing and is connecting in a very special way with people specially during these tough times. It has that feel good type of music that we all love. The concept behind this one was that feeling of falling for someone that you see for the first time at an event or bar and you just can’t take this person off your mind all night, that love at first sight type of feeling, then you end up together dancing through the night all drenched in sweat.

Which artists would you like to collaborate with and why?

I would love to collaborate with Rosalia one day. I love her sound, her artistry and she’s such a dope performer.

What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

The highlight of my career has been to perform as a dancer at the recent Super Bowl with JLo. Nothing compares to that rush, that feeling. Just out of this world!

What’s on your playlist right now?

On my playlist I currently have, Black Eyed Peas, Ozuna, Rosalía, JBalvin, C.Tangana, Mala Rodríguez, Dojo Cat, Zayn, Drake, Maluma, Ricky Martin.. I can keep going haha.

We are very excited about your Virtual Tour! What should audience expect? Any special message to people who will be watching the performance?

I am super excited to be performing for you guys as well. I’m very grateful for this opportunity! They should expect a good time connecting with me and some good music from home. I want them to enjoy the moment and disconnect from everything that’s happening right now in the world. Looking forward to our time together.
