Shawn Mendes is about to touch down in North America with his Illuminate World Tour and on Monday night (June 19), he gave American late-night a taste of the big show. The Canadian Vine-star-turned-rock-star brought "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" to The Tonight Show with a rousing band to fill out his signature acoustic sound.

With a charged electric band behind him, the singer crashed through the Illuminate track, which has him boasting about his top-of-the-world attitude: "Oh, I've been shaking / I love it when you go crazy / You take all my inhibitions / Baby, there's nothing holding me back." He switches from a smooth voice meant for seranading to a gravelly soul-dragging growl as he sings.
