Canadian musical Bryan Adams has been wowing fans for decades, performing to sold-out crowds around the world and has sold over 75 million albums. This dynamic musician is back with a new album, Shine a Light, available today, March 1 and is a warm ode to the music that first introduced Adams to fans. Comprised of rock infused ballads and pop-rock anthems, this Canadian crooner's 14th studio album is as catchy as any of his previous works, but incorporates enough surprise moments to keep things fresh and current.
What many would call an unexpected, but brilliant musical collaboration, Adams joined forces with pop diva Jennifer Lopez for the euphoric up-tempo ballad, "That's How Strong Our Love Is." “Working with Jennifer was a dream, our voices sound amazing together,” Adams says. Adams also worked with British pop star Ed Sheeran on the album-title track "Shine A Light" which Sheeran co-wrote with the singer.
“I met Ed in Dublin this year at one of his shows and we kept in touch”, says Adams. “One day I sent him a chorus I had for a song idea I had called ‘Shine A Light’ and asked him if he was interested in collaborating on it. I got a couple of verses back a few days later, and man you should hear him sing it!”
The singer points to his work on the Broadway musical Pretty Woman, based on the cult-classic film, which is currently playing on Broadway in New York City, as a primary influence on his new album. “This album was made at the same time I was making the Broadway musical Pretty Woman.” Adams told CityNews. “So in between the moments I had working on the musical I was shelving ideas for this project, I did it in my spare time.” The Canadian rocker penned the music and lyrics for the hit adaptation of the 1990 romantic comedy alongside his longtime songwriting partner Jim Vallance. The show will also open in London in 2020.
