The Weeknd brings "Starboy" to Ellen

Written by LNTV Germany / Photography by Chris Molina, Live Nation / December 08, 2016

The Weeknd took to the stage on Ellen early this morning to perform his chart-topping lead single, “Starboy.” Following the release of his 18-track album, the dark R&B prince made an appearance on daytime television “for the first time ever” to perform his worldwide hit.

With dim lights and a smokey ambiance to get us in the right listening mood, Abel Tesfaye sings so perfectly you are inclined to question whether or not his vocals were actually performed live. The laser-accompanied performance was quite fitting for the electric tone of his album.

Though the Canadian singer isn’t one to typically dance around the stage, he kept the audience in his grasp as he grooved and clapped to the infectious Daft Punk-built beat.

If you haven’t had a chance to listen to his album, make sure to do so NOW. (Seriously.) The R&B dynamo keeps it fresh and gives way to a more pop-infused sound with some of his tracks for even the peppiest of listeners to bop to. R&B lovers, don’t fret—the dark, moody Weeknd is still alive and well for you to enjoy. Check him out on the Starboy: Legend Of The Fall 2017 World Tour!
