SOLANGE TO HEADLINE PRE-INAGURATION PEACE BALL

Written by LNTV Staff / January 09, 2017

While the President-Elect Donald Trump has been struggling to find some people to play his inauguration, President Barack Obama announced a party yesterday and second in-line to the throne of American Royalty, Solange Knowles, announced a Pre-Inaguration Peace Ball. The event, officially titled Peace Ball: Voices of Hope and Resistance, kicks off at 8 p.m. and goes all the way to 1 a.m.

The event is on January 19 at National Museum of African American History and Culture and is said to “celebrate the accomplishments and successes of the past four years and the vow to continue to be the change we want to see in the world,” according to Esperanza Spalding. According to Idolator, Esperanza will be performing.

Solange herself had a crazy successful 2016. Her album A Seat At The Table topped the charts, making it her first album to do so. It also made her and Beyoncé the first sisters in history to top the charts in the same calender year. Solage recorded A Seat At The Table earlier in the year, and wrapped up the process 3 days before her epic 30th birthday on June 24. Her album had a beautifully constructed take on the current state of racism, politics, and female empowerment making her a significant voice for social justice in 2016. The single "Cranes in the Sky", released back in October 2016, led to her first Grammy Nomination for "Best R&B Performance." With this announcement of her performance at the Pre-Inaguration event, we can only hope that Solange continues to be as loud of a voice in 2017.

In case you're thinking, "How do I get in!?" the event is already sold out. Tickets averaged $200 for an evening of drinks, food, live music and dancing. We’re hoping that Solange, the lineup and the performer’s voices will be heard and that influential A-List celebrities are not giving up their fight for social justice and equality, despite the election results.

We cannot wait to see if Solange enlists some of her musical fam and friends for the occasion! Perhaps bringing out Lil' Wayne to perform "Mad"? Or a surprise from our fave happiness-inducer Chance the Rapper? Check out the confirmed lineup and guests on busboysandpoets.com while we keep our fingers crossed that Solange and Beyoncé will come out together to perform literally anything. We'll even take The Proud Family theme song… but in that case we’ll need Kelly and Michelle to join, too.

Also, just putting it out in the Universe that it'd be delightful for Chance and Bill Murray to make a cameo.
