CHVRCHES LAUREN MAYBERRY COVERS MILEY CYRUS' 'WRECKING BALL'

Written by LNTV Staff / November 28, 2016

Last night, Lauren Mayberry of the band CHVRCHES surprised comedy fans by being the musical guest at Greg Barris' Heart of Darkness comedy event. She took to the stage at Baby's All Right in Brooklyn to perform a handful of musical numbers with a comedic twist. Lauren, who is known for being an outspoken feminist, performed songs like Don Healy's "The Boys of Summer,” and Ben Folds Five's "Brick," but it was her performance of Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" that truly stole the show. Accompanied by an interpretive dance from comedian Seth Herzog, Lauren gave the audience a flawless rendition of the pop ballad. You can watch Mayberry's performance of the song in the video below!

CHVRCHES have been touring off their most recent album, Every Open Eye, but have also spent some time writing and recording music for video games. In May they released the single "Warning Call" for the video game Mirror's Edge Catalyst. The band also found time this year to headline shows with alternative rock band Death Cab For Cutie. Surrounding their performances at Bonnaroo Festival, the co-headlining dates were met with great reception as the bands intertwined their individual headlining tours in select cities throughout the country. After their giant summer of touring, CHVRCHES have wrapped up all known tour dates and have been pretty quiet on any announcements. We can only hope that means the band is working on new music for 2017.
