Introducing: Sheck Wes

Get familiar with the rising rapper signed by Travis Scott and Kanye West.

Born in Harlem to Senegalese parents, Sheck Wes started making music as a youngster whilst moving back and forth between his dad in New York and his mum in Milwaukee.

Once old enough to be independent, Sheck settled in New York for high school and started to focus heavily on his basketball career. However, his six-foot-two frame and striking looks caught the eye of a fashion talent scout and saw Sheck start to swap basketball courts for runways, even modelling in the Yeezy Season 3 fashion show at Madison Square Garden.

As the buzz began to grow around young Sheck, so did his mother’s concern about her son’s fast lifestyle and wild behaviour, so she exiled him to his ancestral home of Senegal at the age of 17. After taking some time to reset, a refocused Sheck eventually returned to New York and put all his efforts into music, with his gritty rhymes ultimately landing him an Interscope-supported joint deal with Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Records and Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music labels.

With a handful of viral singles under his belt, Sheck’s debut project MUDBOY is set to arrive later this year.
