Eight Songs We Desperately Want To Hear On Lower Than Atlantis' Headline Run

Written by Andy Ritchie / February 08, 2017

It's been a BIG week for Lower Than Atlantis. Not only did they drop by Radio 1's Live Lounge for a cracking rendition of 'Had Enough' and a cover of Zara Larsson's 'I Would Like', their brilliant new album 'Safe In Sound' is currently sitting pretty in the Top 10 of the midweek album charts. Hurrah!

And you know it's not long until they hit the road again, right? With that in mind, we've been blasting the LTA back catalogue LOUD in the LN UK offices this morning, and it's got us thinking about the songs we want to hear. So without further ado, let's get stuck in!

THE SONG: 'I'm Not Bulimic (I Just Wanted To See How Far I Could Stick My Fingers Down My Throat)'
WHY IT BANGS SO HARD: LTA are a world away from the band that wrote 'Far Q' nearly a decade ago, but in all its roughness, their debut (and this track especially) showed the band's ability to pen a TUNE nice and early.
LIKELIHOOD OF HEARING IT ON THE LTA TOUR: It's been a few years since they cracked this one out live, but Mike and the boys do like to mix it up. An optimistic 4/10.
FIND IT: 'Far Q' (A Wolf At Your Door, '09)

THE SONG: 'If The World Was To End'
WHY IT BANGS SO HARD: Although initially released as a standalone single between two albums, 'If The World Was To End' is one of LTA's darkest anthems, often forgotten about by fans and band alike. Bust it out this time, lads!
LIKELIHOOD OF HEARING IT ON THE LTA TOUR: A solid 6/10.
FIND IT: 'Changing Tune (Deluxe Edition)' (Island, '12)

THE SONG: 'Here We Go'
WHY IT BANGS SO HARD: On their last album cycle, 'Here We Go' became a solid live favourite, thanks to its pounding guitar line and crowd-ready singalongs. Whether they open with it, close with it or shove it in somewhere in the middle, expect the floor to be bouncing for this one
LIKELIHOOD OF HEARING IT ON THE LTA TOUR: 8/10
FIND IT: 'Lower Than Atlantis' (Sony Music Entertainment, '14)

THE SONG: 'Emily'
WHY IT BANGS SO HARD: Other than that cold, hard banger of a chorus, it's a song literally about Mike Duce's dog. Cute.
LIKELIHOOD OF HEARING IT ON THE LTA TOUR: Yeah, you'll probably hear it.
FIND IT: 'Lower Than Atlantis' (Sony Music Entertainment, '14)

THE SONG: 'Another Sad Song'
WHY IT BANGS SO HARD: It's their gold-standard ballad that'll have you singing and bawling in equal measure. Just make sure you've got a loved one to hold you when the drums kick in.
LIKELIHOOD OF HEARING IT ON THE LTA TOUR: 10/10 (hint hint, lads...)
FIND IT: 'World Record' (A Wolf At Your Door, '11)

THE SONG: 'Deadliest Catch'
WHY IT BANGS SO HARD: It's one elaborate metaphor for fishing. We like metaphors. And big choruses.
LIKELIHOOD OF HEARING IT ON THE LTA TOUR: Pretty solid.
FIND IT: 'World Record' (A Wolf At Your Door, '11)

THE SONG: 'Words Don't Come So Easily'
WHY IT BANGS SO HARD: Starting off all sweet and gentle, it's a slow builder into one of the brightest pop hooks of 2014. And it still holds up three years later.
LIKELIHOOD OF HEARING IT ON THE LTA TOUR: Put it this way, we'll be flipping tables if they don't play it!
FIND IT: 'Lower Than Atlantis' (Sony Music Entertainment, '14)

THE SONG: 'I Would Like'
WHY IT BANDS SO HARD: Alright, so it's a Zara Larsson cover they recorded for BBC Radio 1's Live Lounger earlier this week. But they did a mighty fine job on reworking it as an LTA anthem. Watch below if you don't believe us!
LIKELIHOOD OF HEARING IT ON THE LTA TOUR: We're not holding our breath...
FIND IT: Over on the BBC Radio 1 YouTube channel
