The Magic of Bonnaroo's 15 Year History

Written by LNTV Staff / June 17, 2016

Take it from legendary festival headliner Wayne Coyne: "It's probably the model of what all festivals are trying to do." Trying is the key word, though, because as people will tell you, Bonnaroo is like no other. Home to late-night Super Jams, morning yoga, and a self-sustaining community of art and music lovers, Bonnaroo has grown into much more than a music festival. After all, what other fests can bring Jamie xx, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Hamm, Chris Rock, and Metallica to a farm in the middle of Manchester, Tennessee?

Leading up to its milestone 15th anniversary year, we take a look at the artists, fans, and masterminds behind Bonnaroo, along with the rich musical traditions and self-sustaining community that the Tennessee festival fostered over the years. Featuring Bonnaroo staples like Coyne, Sharon Jones Nick Thune, Stuart Murdoch, and Reggie Watts, as well as producers and Superfly Co-Founders Richard Goodstone and Rick Farman, Bonnaroo At 15 shows where the festival has been, where it's going, and why it is a model for all music fests to follow.

Celebrating "15 Years of Magic," the 2016 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival takes place June 9-12 at Great Stage Park, located just 60 miles south of Nashville in Manchester, Tennessee. 150+ musicians, bands, and comedians will perform over the festival's 12 unique stages, including Pearl Jam, Dead & Company, LCD Soundsystem, J. Cole,Ellie Goulding, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Tame Impala, Death Cab For Cutie, M83, Haim, Miguel, and many more.
