Fourteen years since their last studio album was released, Dixie Chicks' highly anticipated return to music is here. Though they had a feature on Taylor Swift's 2019 studio album, Lover, the ladies officially dropped their first taste of new music with their single "Gaslighter" on March 4 accompanied by the official video. They announced the forthcoming album Gaslighter would be due May 1, 2020, produced by industry darling, Jack Antonoff.
Dixie Chicks made an appearance on Ellen which premiered today (March 16) in the midst of a global pandemic, however the girls confirmed the performance was shot earlier in the month and they are at home on their couches today.
Watch the beyond talented trio live debut their new single "Gaslighter" on Ellen, a single calling out... you guessed it, gaslighters!
"Gaslighter, denier Doin' anything to get your ass farther Gaslighter, big timer Repeating all of the mistakes of your father" - Dixie Chicks
They're the best-selling female band of all-time for a reason, the ladies have had their share of career ups and downs, even being one of the first victims of cancel culture well ahead of its social media craze. Watch as Natalie Maines and the girls open up to Ellen about their experience that rocked their world.
Thankful the girls made it out of that mess stronger and better than ever, if "Gaslighter" is any indication of what to expect from their first studio album since 2006's Taking the Long Way, then I think it's safe to say we are in for an absolute treat. Keep your ears peeled for more music to come before Gaslighter drops in full come May 1.
