7 artister der kunne erobre Pyramid Scenen på Glastonbury i 2019

Skrevet af Sophie Lane / October 10, 2018

With tickets selling out in 36 minutes and organiser Emily Eavis believing that record numbers tried to secure tickets for 2019’s Glastonbury Festival, the demand for 5 days in (sometimes) sunny Somerset with some local cider has been higher than ever before.

With the line-up tightly under wraps until around March 2019, the speculation has well and truly begun on who’s going to be gracing the iconic Pyramid Stage next June. Here’s a few of theories (and wishes!):

Kylie
Emily Eavis let slip on a BBC Radio 2 interview with Jo Whiley that the Sunday afternoon “tea-time slot” (also referred to as “the legends slot” or “the fourth headliner”) is female and not British. After Kylie had to pull out of the festival in 2005 after being diagnosed with breast cancer, this could be the perfect opportunity to take her global smash “Golden” tour to Worthy Farm. Kylie is continuing her Golden tour throughout Europe next month, tickets are available here.

Ms Lauryn Hill
Another international female who could take the legends slot by storm is Ms Lauryn Hill. Ms Hill is currently touring the globe in celebration of 20 years of “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill”, her debut recording-breaking, solo album that earned her no less than 5 Grammys. Described by The Rolling Stone as “the focal point at hip-hop's crossover into the mainstream”, a Sunday-afternoon on the Pyramid feels fitting for a superstar such as Ms Lauryn Hill. George Ezra
There’s no doubting that George Ezra has had an exceptional year. With a #1 album and his latest single, Shotgun, being named “Song of the Summer” by the Official Charts Company, George’s second album campaign (and his new found hilarious tone on social media) has firmly cemented his place in the hearts of the British public. He last performed at Glastonbury in 2017, playing The Other Stage as well as popping up on the BBC Music Introducing Stage. Whilst George did play some (at the time) unreleased tracks from his sophomore album, Staying At Tamara’s, the big singles were left off the set list. Could we see a triumphant return to the Pyramid in 2019 for a below-headline slot to belt out Shotgun whilst the (hot) sun sets? Grab the last remaining tickets to his huge 2018 – 2019 tour here (which conveniently finishes just before Glastonbury).

Eagles
They don’t fit the description Emily Eavis provided for the legends slot this year, but Glastonbury do love a nostalgic headliner. A huge name and they’re touring the UK around June with a suspicious Saturday night hole in their touring schedule. Tickets for their European tour here.

IDLES

After a #5 sophomore album, selling out shows up and down the country and THAT Jools Holland performance, IDLES are a strong choice for some Saturday afternoon pandemonium on the Pyramid. With NME describing their gang vocals as “sounding like they could fill a stadium with just the five of them” they could hold their own on one of the most coveted stages in the world. Also, they’re from just down the road (Bristol) so it would be rude to not ask them, right? Catch their chaos here

Sigrid
Sigrid has had an absolute knock-out year. After playing a much talked about set last year at the Park Stage on Saturday afternoon, we could well see her making that huge jump to the Pyramid. I mean, Glastonbury love a glow-up (who remembers Rag ‘n’ Bone Man’s jump from the Gully to The Other Stage in ONE. YEAR!?) and the girl has bangers in the bank as well as an incredible live show with infectious energy and vocals to boot. Also, imagine Don’t Kill My Vibe being sang by 175,000 people?! Tickets to her remaining 2018 dates here.

Christine and the Queens
One of the stand-out sets of Glastonbury 2016, recognised by fans and critics alike, was Christine and the Queens early afternoon Friday slot on The Other Stage. Described by NME as a “star-making triumph”, it’s only natural that Chris returns for a victory lap on a bigger stage, playing to a bigger crowd with new music and a new look.
