LOVE YOURSELF ON VALENTINE'S DAY {CHANGE THIS}

SHELBY ELIZABETH / February 07, 2017

It’s the time of year where single people look to drown their sorrows in red wine that they equate more with the blood of their enemies than a romantic evening in. We want to help you enjoy that glass, bottle or crate of wine with a playlist that says “I love ME today.”

“I Lived” - OneRepublic

"I owned every second that this world could give."

This song, released in 2013 serves as a great musical pep talk when you’re feeling down. It reminds you that no matter how bad things can get, as long as you’re doing everything you love to do, you’re living and things will be alright.

"Love Myself” - Hailey Steinfeld

"Gonna love myself, no I don't need anybody else."

Right off the bat, we admit that this song gives us confidence and “I don’t need nobody” chills. Ms. Steinfeld gets risqué in the lyrics, but the message is all the same: “I don’t need you, I have me and I am awesome.” As she says, “I love ME.”

"Break Free" - Ariana Grande and Zedd

"I'm stronger than I've ever been."

If you’re on that breakup grind this Valentine’s day, Ariana is your girl. Her song with Zedd, “Break Free,” is a stinging “I'm better off alone” track. She tells you, this is where she’s getting out, she’s breaking free, she’s breaking out all on her own.

“Me, Myself and I”- Beyoncé

"Imma be my own best friend."

Of course we’ve got Bey on this playlist. She continues to reign as queen of speaking your mind, and is our utmost role model of “Flawless” confidence — add that one to your playlist too — in which the throwback “Me, Myself and I” captures perfectly. “From now on imma be my own best friend…” Sing it, B.

“We R Who We R” - Kesha

"You know we're superstars."

Dollar signs or no dollar signs, Kesha is all her own woman. We know it, you know it and “We R Who We R” still stands to prove it. A love yourself playlist just wouldn't feel complete without including the girl who made loving yourself in your party phase cool. After all, “superstars” need to have fun too.

“So What” - P!nk

"I got my rock moves, and I don't need you tonight."

The original rebel pop badass herself dedicates a song to saying “screw you, I love my crazy rockstar self” and we couldn’t love it--or her--more. P!nk gives you the motivation to say “I don’t want or need anyone, I’m awesome.” And hey, we can even use P!nk’s “rock moves” to party like Kesha and her superstars.

“The Phoenix” - Fall Out Boy

"The war is won, before it's begun."

If we’re in a more emo mood, we can always just queue up Pete Wentz to cry with us, while appreciating our right to cry. “The Phoenix” is a ragey rehash of old FOB values with a new feel. It helps you take the reigns, asking you to "put on your war paint" and "dance alone to the beat of your heart." In short: you are everything you need, already.

“Monster” - Kanye, Jay-Z, Nicki

"You could be the king, but watch the queen conquer."

An unlikely song on this list that fills us with pride and joy about getting ahead and knowing your worth. You get Kanye telling us how he’s getting from number two to number one, Jay-Z reclaiming his throne and Nicki knocking them both off and reminding us why she is the Queen of Rap. It's a song that says "I'm here to stay."
