Mostly known for being part of the musical collective Nahko and Medicine for the People, Nahko Bear will be bringing his soulful solo music to New Zealand next year for the very first time.
The first single from his solo release ‘My Name Is Bear’ was ‘Dragonfly’, and the music video was co-directed by Nahko and starred Paris Jackson!
Nahko himself was born in Oregon, and is a mix of Puerto Rican, Native American, and Filipino bloodlines
His music takes inspiration from fellow storytellers like Conor Oberst and Bob Dylan.
After learning music from the age of six, Nahko has been pursuing music ever since - and in 2012 he started travelling around the US in a van with his dog.
As part of the collective Medicine for the People, they have released three albums, and his solo album of this year ‘My Name Is Bear’ marks his first official solo release. Listen to the full album:
