HAIM On Course To Bump Ed Sheeran Off Number 1 Album Spot

Written by Andy Ritchie / July 11, 2017

It's allllll go with HAIM right now: their stunning second album 'Something To Tell You' isn't just receiving glowing praise from fans and critics alike, it's now on course to knock Ed Sheeran off the Number 1 spot of the Official UK Album Charts.

According to the Official Charts company, "At the halfway stage of the chart week, the Los Angeles sibling trio are leading the way with their second album Something To Tell You, but it's close: Ed Sheeran's ÷ is less than 1,000 units behind at Number 2."

Not heard the album yet? Firstly, WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING ALL WEEKEND? Secondly, allow us to summarise what some people far better with words than us have been saying...

As The Guardian put it in their four-star review: "Haim really know what they are doing. There are digressions to kill for here, what you might once have called middle eights, indefatigable melodies, and weird little noises – a horse neigh and a seagull coda on Want You Back, a fax machine on Found It in Silence, the gasping on Nothing’s Wrong – to keep you clamping your headphones to your ears in delight."

Even Pitchfork brought out the nice words, saying: "Haim’s glossy second album is slyly complex. The California sisters remain masters of rhythm and create spacious pop-rock full of heartbreak, longing, and betrayal."

The NME, meanwhile said: "Every track has a certain throwback factor. The title track’s bass snaps like a Michael Jackson classic, the handclapping ‘Ready For You’ gives way to a George Michael ‘Faith’-style acoustic refrain. Yet instead of being reverential nods to the past, it sounds like a very modern band having the time of their lives. They’re showing off, but that’s because they can."

IT IS HAIM TIME ❤️
