Here's something we didn't expect to read today...
Black Sabbath guitarist and godfather of RIFFS Tony Iommi has stepped briefly away from his hair-raising ways... to pen a choral piece for Birmingham Cathedral.
Iommi describes the five-minute acoustic arrangement as "just a little bit different to Sabbath". Well, quite!
The project was originally conceived when Iommi was battling cancer in 2012. During this time, he grew a friendship with the Dean of Birmingham, the Very Reverend Catherine Ogle, who says of their partnership:
"When Tony was unwell, we got to know one another better when I began to pray for him and kept in touch with Tony and his wife about his health."
"This is a most wonderful gift Tony offered to the cathedral."
You can read more on the story over at the BBC.
In other news, Tony Iommi takes part in Black Sabbath's last ever tour at the end of the month. Don't miss your last chance to see the Sabbath live!
