ANDRA DAY ON LIFE LESSONS AND STEVIE WONDER

Written by Live Nation Sweden / December 16, 2016

You could say Andra Day has a competitive advantage over her fellow musicians. After all, how many people can say they were discovered by the great Stevie Wonder? Back in 2010, Wonder's then-wife Kai Millard saw a video of Day performing in a strip mall near her California home. Not long after, Stevie himself came calling.

"I was living in a tiny little studio apartment with my mom," recalls Day of the phone call that changed everything. "I didn't believe it."

Since then, Day has made a massive impact in the music world with hit singles "Rise" and "Forever Mine," her stunning debut album Cheers To The Fall, and her 2015 duet with Wonder, "Someday At Christmas." Six years later, Day says the connection is still incredibly surreal: "Being with contact with him, even today, it's still a very weird experience to be like, 'Oh, hey Steve.'"
