TV GIG ROUNDUP: DNCE, GREEN DAY, THE PRETENDERS

Skrevet af LNTV Staff / Photography by Paul Wilkins, Live Nation / December 07, 2016

It’s getting colder and colder outside and the sweet lure of our television screens are getting stronger and stronger--all the more reason to stay in and watch some live music from the comfort of our couches. Here are a few rockin' performances we thought were worth staying in on a Monday night for:

Bringing a fresh funky kick to the pop scene is four-person rock band DNCE. The group, consisting of Joe Jonas, drummer Jack Lawless, guitarist JinJoo Lee and bassist Cole Whittle, debuted their first single last year, “Cake By The Ocean,” which has just gone triple platinum(yes, TRIPLE platinum) this month. The band released their first full-length album titled DNCEon , and made a flashy appearance on Jimmy Fallon to perform their song “Body Moves.” An energetic, body-rocking, hip-swaying single, the band’s playful chemistry shone bright on the stage in an altogether exciting performance.

The Pretenders may have been around for 30 years now, but their rock n’ roll roots still hold steady. Led by power woman Chrissie Hyde, the group has just released its first studio effort in four years: a 12-track LP titled Alone. Joined by Dan Auerbach, who had contributed to the album, the band performed their lead single “Holy Commotion” last night on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Hynde shows off her still-sexy signature croon, lead guitarist Walbourne gives us a taste of his dexterous strumming and the whole band takes you back to a time when classic rock ruled over all.

Reeling from an eventful week at the American Music Awards, Green Day took the stage at Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform two singles off their new album, “Revolution Radio” and “Bang, Bang,” this time not ending out with an anti-Trump chant. The band gives the crowd an amped up performance filled with Billy Joe’s electric energy and the group’s fiery spirit. With the release of their first album in two years, Revolution Radio, the band is back to their busy schedule and will be hitting the European trail early 2017 for a month-long tour.
