Tears For Fears 2019 Rule the World Tour Highlights

Skrevet af David Esquivel / Photography by: Brian Rasic / February 18, 2019

When Tears for Fears postponed their 2018 UK tour, fans were saddened with the news that they'd have to wait a bit longer to see their favorite band live, but the wait is over as the iconic band has hit the stage for tour dates scheduled in the UK and Europe. The tour kicked off on January 30 at INEC Killarney in Killarney, Co. Kerry, Ireland and features support from the legendary Alison Moyet, who was formerly one half of the band Yazoo.
With two powerhouse acts on the road together, one can only anticipate a show of a lifetime! Let's review some highlights from both acts shall we?
Alison Moyet's set tends to average 11 songs including 4 Yazoo covers like the classic hits "Nobody's Diary" and "Only You." It's safe to say Moyet still has IT as her performance of "Only You" (featured below) is absolutely flawless. It's worth noting that the song "Only You" has been covered by artists such as Kylie Minogue and Enrique Iglesias. Moyet closes each set with the iconic 1982 Yazoo hit "Don't Go," which feels a bit appropriate considering that's likely what fans are begging of her as she takes a bow before clearing the stage for Tears for Fears.
Tears for Fears takes the stage but not before an intro featuring New Zealand's biggest export of the decade, Lorde, covering her version of "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." As Lorde sings the title lyric and lights flash, the band takes the stage before moving into their original version of the hit. Watch the performance including intro below!
Of course the band plays "Mad World" in their set but it's their encore that features another one of their iconic hits, "Shout." It's a moment where the audience puts their vocal chops to the test, you can hear the arena sing along to the chorus.
Check out the setlist from their opening night below and catch them live on one of their many 2019 tour dates!
