Stephen Colbert revealed a new, hilarious segment on The Late Show on Monday, in which he sings traditional lyrics over modern pop songs to avoid paying for the rights to use the song. It's called "Lyrics We Can Afford To Songs We Love." (Oddly enough, Jimmy Fallon has a similar stunt). On the first installement, Colbert invited Green Day to join him in the green room to sing a more affordable version of "Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)."

Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool mocked an emotive delivery as they sang the lyrics to the copyright-free "Camptown Races" over their 1997 ballad. They were aided by Colbert himself and a skilled melodica player. "The Camptown ladies sing this song / Oh do dah day / The Camptown racetrack's five miles long / Oh do dah day," they sang together in harmony.

"Nailed it!" Cool yelped enthusiastically after their performance.

The best part is in the beginning with Colbert calls Green Day fans "Green Beans."
